Glenelg, one of Adelaide's most iconic beach side suburbs, has a strong local community and is also a very popular tourist destination. The tram which runs from the city to the beach front is an attraction for both locals and out of town visitors. As a Jetty Road business we have the advantage of working in a location with that slightly relaxed air that comes with our Aussie beach culture.

I had a long awareness of the optical profession after my vision problem was picked up when I was 5 years old. I was fortunate that I had a close family friend who was an Optometrist and who encouraged my interest in the profession.

I was always interested in health and working with people and Optometry is a great combination of both. Optometry is always developing and the challenge of building a business over the last 40 years has made for a really fulfilling career.
Giving back
HoldfastBay Optometry is committed to supporting those at some disadvantage in both our local and global communities using our optometry experience. Locally we provide vision screenings for the Special Olympics and local schools through the Essilor Vision Foundation. Globally we fundraise and promote awareness for Optometry Giving Sight, an organisation providing resources for the 600million + people who are blind simply because they need a pair of glasses. In addition to this, our optometrists have had a strong involvement in the wider optometry community holding positions with both Optometry Australia (the professional association supporting Optometry), and with the regulatory authorities including AHPRA whose role is to ensure public safety and confidence in the profession.
