Our Warrnambool practice has been serving the community since 1946, making it one of the longest-standing optometry practices in regional Victoria. Jayson Ward
Jayson is a proud co-owner of Warrnambool and Portland Eyecare, with over 19 years experience in the world of optics. He has completed a Bachelor of Optometry, Post Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics and Masters of Optometry. Jayson has travelled around Australia and other countries accumulating optometry knowledge and experience. Jayson is passionate about optometry and ensuring that his patients achieve the best possible vision and eye health. As a father himself, Jayson is also dedicated to children’s eye care.
Matthew John Buckis
Matthew is a proud co-owner of Portland and Warrnambool Eyecare. Matt completed a Bachelor of Optometry and a Post Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics at the University of Melbourne. Matt has over 19 years experience, from working in several Victorian locations over the years, before settling in Port Fairy. Matt prides himself on attention to detail and thoroughness when seeing his patients. He is also an avid surfer, musician and footy enthusiast.
Darren Welch
Darren has worked in the Warrnambool and Portland practices since 2018. He completed his Master of Optometry and Bachelor of Vision Science with Honors at Deakin University. Darren’s enthusiastic, honest and approachable personality creates a welcoming and stress-free consultation experience for his patients. He is a community-minded Warrnambool local, and enjoys spending time with his family. Darren can often be found at a local footy game with his kids, helping out at school, or out for a run on the promenade.
Giving back
Warrnambool Eyecare is committed to contributing to the local community, aside from various financial sponsorships but also by visiting local schools, nursing homes, indigenous and medical clinics and assisting local university students in their learning. We also donate funds received for frame repairs to "Optometry Giving Sight" to be directed to those less fortunate than us overseas who need eyecare.
