As an independent practice, we aren’t bound by corporate demands or restricted supplier lists, which means every decision is centred on what genuinely benefits our patients. We can freely select from the best lens technologies and frame ranges on the market. Independence also allows us to nurture strong community bonds and offer a personal touch—patients know they can count on us for continuity of care.
We chose independence because it aligns with our core beliefs in integrity and patient-focused service: We make decisions based on clinical need, not profit targets.

Balwyn North is a beautiful, leafy suburb with a warm community feel. It’s close enough to Melbourne’s vibrant city centre for convenience, yet retains a peaceful, family-friendly character. From its well-maintained parks to top-tier schools, the area offers an excellent quality of life. It’s a pleasure to serve such a welcoming community, and I love how locals genuinely value and support small businesses like ours.
Optometrists
Jillian Campbell
Jillian holds a Bachelor of Vision Science and Master of Optometry with Distinction from QUT. She completed her residency at the Australian College of Optometry, specialising in contact lens fitting and ocular pathology. She has earned two Specialist Certificates from the University of Melbourne and an Associate Diploma in Speech and Drama.
A dedicated educator, Jillian teaches at Deakin University and Melbourne University Eyecare, and lectures at conferences nationwide. She has volunteered in Northern Territory communities, Vanuatu, and India. Originally from Queensland, Jillian joined the practice in 2016 and became sole owner in March 2023. In her free time, she enjoys sewing, brunching, board games, and is learning to ski.
Richard Lindsay
Richard Lindsay earned his BScOptom (1984) and MBA (1991) from the University of Melbourne. He led Contact Lens Clinics at the Victorian College of Optometry (1989-1998) and was a Senior Fellow at the University of Melbourne (1992-2007). An internationally recognized contact lens expert, he's presented over 100 lectures worldwide and authored more than 30 papers.
In 1996, Richard established his practice, which grew to serve thousands of patients with four optometrists. While Jillian Campbell took ownership in March 2023, Richard continues practicing, focusing on patients rather than management.
Richard enjoys Las Vegas, supports St Kilda, and treasures family time.
Jacinda Van
Jacinda specialises in myopia control, having successfully managed her own myopia with multifocal soft contact lenses and orthokeratology. As a member of the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania, she conducts workshops and lectures on this topic. She's particularly passionate about keratoconic, pediatric, and complex custom lens fitting, regularly mentoring students and fellow optometrists.
With a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2017) and a Doctor of Optometry (2021), Jacinda gained experience across public, corporate, independent, and ophthalmology settings before choosing independent practice.
Outside work, Jacinda enjoys baking, hiking, live music, and is a regular attendee at the Australian Open.
Michaela Rossi
Michaela graduated from Flinders University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Medical Science & Master of Optometry. During university, she provided eye care to underprivileged schools and indigenous communities in rural Victoria. She started at OPSM before joining Richard Lindsay and Associates.
Her career path was inspired by her mother's keratoconus journey, seeing firsthand how scleral contact lenses improved her mother's quality of life. This personal connection fueled Michaela's interest in keratoconus and corneal ectasia. She particularly enjoys designing rigid contact lenses to help patients with similar conditions and has a keen interest in myopia control and pediatric optometry.
Outside work, Michaela loves beaches, traveling, camping, and exploring Australia.
Giving back
We’re committed to playing an active role in both the local and wider community. This includes supporting local charities and events, offering vision screenings at community gatherings, and sponsoring sports clubs whenever possible. On a broader scale, we’re exploring partnerships with global eye health initiatives—because we believe that good vision care should be accessible worldwide. Our goal is to extend kindness and improve eye health well beyond our clinic’s doors.
