Sandy Bay is the second-oldest of all Total Eyecare practices with a focus on high quality eyewear and the latest testing technology, including retinal photography and visual fields testing. We are proudly locally owned and operated by the Optometrists who work in our practices. Total Eyecare remains committed to serving our local community through quality eyecare.

Total Eyecare is an amalgamation of several independent practices. Since our beginnings in 1946, independence has been valued by all our owner optometrists as it allows us to make the best clinical decisions for you. Independence allows us to choose our lens, contact lens and frame suppliers without restriction. Having access to all the best quality products for our patients is why we remain proudly independent. As fierce Tasmanians, we also contribute to our local community by employing locals and supporting our local economy.

I am the state president of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia, the current president of Optometry Tasmania and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, an international organisation committed to fostering excellence in eyecare and vision research. I also work part-time at the Royal Hobart Hospital Eye Clinic.
Andrew Koch
I was shortsighted as a child and first visited an Optometrist when I was 8. It was so scientific and magical that I never forgot the experience. Now I live the dream every day. Outside of work I enjoy surfing, photography and participating in theatre and the arts.
Giving back
Total Eyecare has always been supporters of the Optometry Giving Sight program, specifically in the establishment and ongoing commitment to the East Timor Eye Program. Several of our owner Optometrists travel to East Timor annually to work with locals in restoring sight to thousands of people who would otherwise go without basic eyecare. Additionally, we support multiple local causes and events throughout the year with monetary and product donations.
